The Department of Public Policy And Management (DPPM) at the Faculty of Social and Political Sciences, Universitas Gadjah Mada, concluded 2023 with remarkable achievements through various educational, research, and community service programs.
In the field of education, DPPM conducted learning programs that included regular lectures, project-based learning, guest lectures, public lectures, and field studies. The DPPM program continues to innovate with various teaching methods, including the implementation of the “Merdeka Belajar Kampus Merdeka” (MBKM) program, which is carried out through internships, independent studies, and student exchanges.
One of the highlighted programs is the Graduation Acceleration Program for undergraduate students and Thesis Mentoring for graduate students. Additionally, DPPM successfully implemented a faculty research cluster program covering studies in climate change, sustainability, and energy transition.
Not only excelling in academics, DPPM also stood out in research and publications. The academic community of DPPM produced various research studies published in national and international journals. The research covered contemporary topics such as governance during the COVID-19 pandemic, public innovation, and education policy.
DPPM has also established collaborations with various international universities, such as the University of Melbourne, Yonsei University, and the National University of Singapore. One form of this international collaboration is the Living-Lab program, which involves field research and policy implementation at both local and global levels.
In addition, DPPM actively organized various seminars, webinars, and training sessions, including training on quantitative data processing and data mining using applications such as STATA and Orange Data Mining. These activities aim to enhance the data analysis skills of students and the general public.
The seminars/webinars conducted included discussions on strategic issues such as water governance in Asia, air pollution in Greater Jakarta, and the role of villages in development. These activities provide a platform for students and academics to engage directly with experts from various fields.
DPPM also strives to expand its network through various promotional and collaborative activities. Work visits from various universities and institutions provide opportunities to exchange ideas and strengthen networks, such as collaborations with the University of Melbourne, Yonsei University, and Inha University. At the national level, DPPM has partnerships with Universitas Bandar Lampung, Universitas Muhammadiyah Palangkaraya, and Universitas Diponegoro. Furthermore, the promotion of DPPM International Undergraduate Program (IUP) continues to strengthen the department’s position as a center of international-standard education. DPPM also successfully completed the international accreditation process from FIBAA for its undergraduate program.
With these achievements in 2023, DPPM FISIPOL UGM remains committed to enhancing the quality of education, research, and community service, in line with its vision to become a globally recognized institution in the field of public policy and management in 2032.
