Curriculum for Doctoral Degree (S3)

The structure of Doctorate Program (S3) Curriculum is doctorate-by-research, which is self-directed research aimed to produce a qualified dissertation over a study period of 3 years.

 

Courses

Qualitative and Quantitative Methods

This course is designed to enable students to comprehend the principles of research methodology, especially for studies in public policy and management. The principles include the definition and the scope of research in public administration, the types of research, the categories of research data, the research processes, the ideal research characteristics, the techniques of data processing and analysis, and presenting research in a report. This methodological understanding is essential in bridging contemporary issues in the practical world with the concepts and theories developing within the study of public policy and management.

Epistemology of Public Administration

This course is designed to provide students with a theoretical understanding of the ontology, epistemology, and axiology of Public Administration Science. Students are expected to comprehend the theories and concepts evolving within the study of Public Administration along with the relevant dimensions/components of other social sciences, including specifically their development in the study of public policy and management. In addition, this course aims to provide resources to formulate new theories and concepts to support the advancement of the study of Public Administration.

 

Minor/Specialization Courses

In the first year, students must take at least two elective courses tailored to their minor or specialization. In addition, the courses in which the students enroll have to align with the topic of their dissertations.
