Undergraduate Program Overview

History

The undergraduate program of Public Policy and Management (PPM) was established under the cluster of social and political sciences not long after the foundation of Fakultet HESP (formerly the Faculty of Law, Economics, and Social and Political Sciences) at Universitas Gadjah Mada in 1952. Then, there were three majors in the Social and Political Sciences cluster: Government, International Relations, and Publicity. HESP was later proliferated into three faculties: Faculty of Law, Faculty of Economics, and Faculty of Social and Political Sciences. The study program Jurusan Usaha Negara (Government Affairs) was established on 19 September 1955. In 1957, Jurusan Usaha Negara transformed into Jurusan Administrasi Negara (Public Administration – JIAN) and was known as the oldest educational institution of public administration in Indonesia. In 2010, JIAN was renamed Manajemen dan Kebijakan Publik (Public Policy and Management – PPM) to keep up with the dynamics of the public administration science and to allow more flexibility for its graduates.
